The social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has brought back Kanye West’s account after it was suspended for about eight months. The suspension happened when Kanye posted a picture with a swastika and Star of David, which Elon Musk, who owns the platform, considered as promoting violence.
Now, Kanye’s account is reinstated, but he hasn’t posted anything new yet. He promised not to share harmful or antisemitic content on the platform.
Earlier this year, Kanye’s collaboration with a German company ended, leading to a sales loss of around 400 million euros (about US$441 million). Additionally, Gap and Balenciaga also cut ties with the rapper and designer.
Since Elon Musk bought X last year, he has made changes, including laying off employees and reducing content moderation. He also brought back Donald Trump’s Twitter account, even though Trump hasn’t used it yet.
Recently, Musk and X’s new CEO, Linda Yaccarino, announced that Twitter will be rebranded as X. They plan to turn it into an “everything app” that combines finances and socializing in one place.
