You know, it’s always interesting when people draw comparisons between completely unrelated things. This time around, folks are talking about the budget of India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission and how it stacks up against the cost of making movies. Yeah, I’m talking about those viral posts where they’re saying Chandrayaan-3’s budget is even less than what was spent on the movie ‘Adipurush’, which stars Prabhas and Kriti Sanon. Quite a conversation starter, right?
So, as the Chandrayaan-3 mission gets closer to completing its lunar adventure, guess who decided to join the conversation? Elon Musk, the big shot behind Tesla and basically one of the richest people on this planet. He saw a post on what we now call X (formerly known as Twitter) that said Chandrayaan-3’s budget is actually lower than what it took to make ‘Interstellar’. And you know what he said? He thought it’s a “good for India” mission. Well, that’s Musk’s way of giving a thumbs-up, I guess.
According to this X post, Chandrayaan-3’s budget is set at $75 million. That might sound like a lot, but when you realize that the makers of ‘Interstellar’, a movie with Matthew McConaughey in the lead, spent a whopping $165 million on their project, it kind of puts things in perspective. That’s almost more than double!
And here’s the kicker – the Vikram lander, which is like the star player of Chandrayaan-3, is all set to make its landing on the moon’s surface. They’re aiming for Wednesday evening, by the way. It’s just fascinating how you can have a mission that’s exploring the moon on a budget that’s smaller than what some Hollywood movies spend on catering!
So, there you have it. Chandrayaan-3 is proving that you don’t always need a Hollywood-sized budget to shoot for the moon, literally. Elon Musk’s comment just adds a bit of stardust to the whole conversation, highlighting India’s achievement in the realm of space exploration, and maybe indirectly giving a nod to India’s financial savvy too.
